John Wall professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association, Jonathan Hildred Wall Jr. was born in the United States on September 6, 1990. After playing one season of collegiate basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats, Wall, a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, was selected by the Washington Wizards with the first overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft. From 2014 to 2018, Wall, a point guard, was a five-time NBA All-Star and was selected to the All-NBA Team in 2017. Prior to being traded to the Houston Rockets in December 2020, he sustained numerous injuries in 2019 and missed more than two years of basketball.

At Garner Magnet High School in Garner, North Carolina, Wall played basketball during his first two years of high school. After Wall second season, his family relocated to Raleigh, where he went back to Needham B. Broughton High School for his sophomore year. John Wall was dismissed from the school’s varsity team for attitude-related reasons despite having a very strong tryout. He changed schools to Word of God Christian Academy, also in Raleigh, for this reason. Wall began working on changing his attitude and other relevant concerns there. Wall underwent coaching from coach Levi Beckwith, who first got him to quit making fun of his teammates when they missed layups and later helped him work on his facial expressions and manner.
